‘Sold my Soul’ Originally recorded by NAZARETH, off of their 1973 “Razamanaz” LP. This is a fitting song to feature our very special guest Sister: Johanna Platow Andersson (LUCIFER/The OATH) on Vocals.
You will recognize her as the Leader of the Heavy occult rock band LUCIFER. Along with her husband/drummer Nicke (The HELLACOPTERS/ENTOMBED) and co.
Johanna was kind enough to record her vocals in their elusive Stockholm, Sweden studio. Done at a particularly busy time, at the peak of the Europe’s ‘Rock festival season'. She Squeezed in her vocals, between playing live arena dates, supporting GHOST and headlining assorted festivals all over Europe, as well as Recording a dozen+ songs for her own upcoming ‘LUCIFER V’ album.
Her vocal interpretation is both melodically accurate to the original, yet very much her own. A Perfect balance.
This release is a bit of an international Collab, with all of the SISTER MIDNIGHT instrumental tracks being recorded in sunny California, Sung by A German, recorded in Sweden, both channeling one of the biggest bands out of Scotland.
The track itself, a deep cut off this Rockin’ 1973 LP. Definitely one of the heaviest, most doom laden tunes in the vast NAZARETH catalog. This song channels more than a little Iommi-esqe Riffery. As well Dan McCafferty’s blood curdling yet vulnerable vocal performance. You can hear the influence of this song (and album) in many other bands to come later in the 1970s-80s.
